# How to Create a Free Minecraft Server

Source: https://freemchosting.com/guides/free-minecraft-server/

Host your own Minecraft Java world without buying a server or keeping your computer running. Here’s how to get started with FreeMcHosting.

01

## Create an account

Open the [FreeMcHosting dashboard](https://client.freemchosting.com/) and create your account. You don’t need a credit card. FreeMcHosting is a community-funded nonprofit project that provides Minecraft server hosting.

02

## Earn credits and create your server

Use the dashboard rewards to earn free credits, then choose your server resources. Free Minecraft servers include 4 GB RAM and 10 GB storage. Check node availability before creating your server. Setup takes around 60 seconds.

03

## Choose your Minecraft version

Select the compatible server software and Java version offered in the dashboard. Match your Minecraft client version to your server version when joining. For a server with plugins, choose server software that supports the plugins you want to use.

04

## Start your server and invite friends

Start the server from the dashboard and wait for the console to show that it is ready. Copy your server address, open Minecraft Java Edition, choose Multiplayer and then Add Server. Paste the address and share it with your friends.

05

## Keep your world active

Your active Minecraft server runs 24/7, with DDoS protection. Check the dashboard for renewal reminders and keep enough credits available. Download backups of your world files regularly. For connection problems, check the [service status](https://status.freemchosting.com/) and contact [support](mailto:support@freemchosting.com) if you need help.

Resource availability, compatible software and renewal details are shown in your dashboard. Hosting is subject to our [Terms of Service](https://freemchosting.com/terms-of-service/).
