General FAQ and Free Hosting Model
General FAQ and Free Hosting Model
FreeMcHosting is a 100% nonprofit, community-driven game server provider dedicated to delivering unrestricted Minecraft server hosting without paywalls, hidden subscriptions, or credit card requirements.
1. How FreeMcHosting Operates
FreeMcHosting runs entirely on a nonprofit basis. We put our resources into providing free Minecraft servers, helping more people build, explore and connect.
Unlike traditional commercial hosts that restrict core features behind monthly subscriptions, FreeMcHosting uses a sustainable community model:
- 100% Free Forever: All core hosting features—including full FTP/SFTP access, plugin installers, console controls, subuser permissions, and 4GB RAM—are completely free.
- Directly Self-Hosted: All nodes are self-hosted and operated directly by our team rather than rented through third-party VPS resellers.
- No Credit Card Required: You never need to enter billing details, payment methods, or personal identity documents.
- DDoS Mitigation: Built-in network-level filtering shields your server against automated denial-of-service floods.
2. Server Specifications and Self-Hosted Node Infrastructure
FreeMcHosting operates multiple self-hosted server nodes:
| Infrastructure Cluster | Node Hostname | Node IP Address | Processor & Hardware | Storage & RAM | Network & IP Ban Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free Community Tier (NL0) | nl0.freemchosting.com | 45.13.237.208 | Dual Intel Xeon E5-2650 v2 | SAS Enterprise Storage, DDR3 ECC (4 GB) | Proxied traffic (No IP banning capabilities) |
| Donation Tier (UK1) | uk1.freemchosting.com | 57.128.180.78 | AMD Ryzen 9 3900X | NVMe High-Speed SSD, DDR4 RAM (Up to 16 GB) | Direct IP routing (Full IP banning capabilities) |
Note on NL0 IP Banning: Because our free NL0 node is self-hosted with traffic proxied through our frontend routing layer, player connections show the proxy address rather than individual player IPs. For this reason, NL0 has no IP banning capabilities (use
/ban <player>instead). UK1 is our donation tier where direct routing allows full IP ban enforcement.
3. The Credit and Server Renewal System
To prevent abandoned servers from idling and consuming datacenter electricity and resources, FreeMcHosting utilizes a transparent credit renewal system:
- Active Time: Each server runs on an active credit timer. As long as your server has credits, it remains operational 24/7.
- Earning Free Credits: You can replenish credits at any time by visiting the Rewards portal at
https://dash.freemchosting.com/rewards. - Reward Methods: Credits can be earned via short community actions, AFK reward pages, and Discord interactions.
- Server Hibernation: If a server runs out of credits, it is stopped safely and placed into hibernation. Your world files, configurations, and plugins remain completely intact for a grace period.
4. Frequently Asked Questions
