Installing Minecraft Plugins (Manual .jar Method)

Installing Minecraft Plugins

Plugins allow you to add economy systems, land claims, moderation tools, and mini-games to your Minecraft server without requiring your players to install client-side modifications.

Prerequisite: Plugins require server software that implements the Bukkit/Spigot API. Your server must be running Paper, Purpur, or Spigot. Vanilla Minecraft does not support plugins.

Method A: Manual Installation (Recommended)

Manual installation allows you to download and control the exact version of any plugin from Modrinth, SpigotMC, Bukkit, or developer GitHub repositories.

Step 1: Download the Plugin Jar

Download the .jar file from trusted sources:

Verify that the plugin is listed as compatible with your Minecraft server version.

Step 2: Access the Dashboard File Manager

  1. Log into your server dashboard.
  2. Select your server and click Files in the sidebar.
  3. Open the plugins directory.

Step 3: Upload the File

Drag and drop the downloaded .jar file into the file manager window, or click Upload and select the file from your computer.

Step 4: Restart the Server

Navigate to the Console tab and restart your server. During boot, the server will load the jar and automatically generate configuration folders under plugins/<PluginName>/.

Step 5: Verify in Console

In the console command bar, run:
plugins
If installed correctly, the plugin name will appear in green text.

Method B: Automated 1-Click Installation

If your dashboard template includes the built-in Addons/Plugins browser:

  1. Click Plugins or Add-ons in the server dashboard menu.
  2. Search for the desired plugin name (e.g., EssentialsX, CoreProtect, WorldEdit).
  3. Click Install. The system will download the compatible jar directly to your /plugins/ folder.
  4. Restart your server to initialize the configuration files.

Modifying Plugin Configuration Files

After a plugin starts for the first time, open the File Manager:

  1. Navigate to /plugins/<PluginName>/.
  2. Click on config.yml to open the web editor.
  3. Make your desired adjustments, click Save Content, and run the plugin's reload command or restart the server.
