GeyserMC and Floodgate: Bedrock Crossplay
GeyserMC and Floodgate: Bedrock Crossplay
Geyser is a translator proxy plugin that allows Minecraft Bedrock Edition clients to join your Java Edition server natively, translating packets in real time. Floodgate allows Bedrock players to join without requiring a separate Java account.
Prerequisites
- A server running Paper or Purpur (1.20+ recommended).
- An extra open port for Bedrock UDP traffic, or port allocation configured in your dashboard.
Step 1: Download Geyser and Floodgate
Download the matching plugin jars:
- Geyser-Spigot.jar: Download from geysermc.org
- Floodgate-Spigot.jar: Download from the Floodgate section of Geyser's download page
Step 2: Install Plugins to /plugins/
- Open your FreeMcHosting File Manager.
- Navigate to
plugins. - Upload both
Geyser-Spigot.jarandFloodgate-Spigot.jar. - Restart your server. This generates the
plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.ymlfile.
Step 3: Configure Geyser Port
Bedrock Edition uses UDP networking. By default, Bedrock expects port 19132, but on hosting environments, you must use an allocated port.
- Open
plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml. - Locate the
bedrocksection:
bedrock:
address: 0.0.0.0
port: YOUR_ASSIGNED_PORT
clone-remote-port: true
port:. If using the same port, keep clone-remote-port: true.
- Locate
auth-type:underremote::
remote:
auth-type: floodgate
floodgate allows mobile and console players to join with their Microsoft Gamertag.
- Save the file and restart the server.
